Mr. Moore defends rational thought

Thanks to Norman Adams for this information. And for his permission to use the Moore photo.

Despite inclement weather, about 45 people gathered this afternoon (31st Aug) outside Abington Park museum, Northampton, as part of a protest to defend free speech and rational thought. The protest, organised by Northampton Socialist Forum, came after an information sign about Darwinism at the museum was partially covered following a complaint by what appears to be a Christian fundamentalist.

Pat Markey explained the events leading up to the protest, and writer/artist Alan Moore gave an entertaining speech about religion, free speech, and censorship.

A number of people left their contact details in the event of further campaigning being necessary to ensure that the museum information is not censored by religion.
Thanks to those to helped make it a successful event at short notice.

Related info HERE. Imho, I think the world is becoming a very strange place!

Thanks for sharing the link, smoky! Gaah, what has the world come to that we have to protest in favor of rational thought?!

I totally agree with you.

It's a strange world we are living in.

Good God (probably not appropriate!)

No, you pretty much expect moronic thinking like that in the US, where there are some people ignorant enough to actually believe in creationist theory, but not in the UK. I have always considered us a more enlightened bunch. This beggars belief somewhat.

@edward
First, thanks for the visit. There is no discussion that creationist theory is not ... a theory at all. :)

Maybe we'll see a brand new better world, sooner or later...
